Bomber Jacket is a single barrel expression of Revolution’s Straight Jacket Barleywine Ale selected by The Open Bottle. It was aged in a Willett Bourbon Barrel for 14 months. Prior to barrel-aging, it was aged on French oak cubes in the fermenter to amplify notes of oaky vanilla and crème brûlée.

8 fl oz mini growler poured into Rastal Lawrence Deep Woods branded stemless glass.
Appearance: Dark brown bodied barleywine with a khaki colored head that stacks up to be 2 fingers tall. The head has good staying power and eventually drops to a ring around the glass.
Smell: The caramel goodness of Straight Jacket paired with a massive dose of vanilla aromas. Mature oak notes as well.
Taste: Big caramel. Even bigger vanilla. Just like the nose suggests. Nice little hit of earthy and spicy rye in the middle. Mature dry oak with light caramel & chocolate finish.
Mouthfeel: medium full bodied barleywine. Low and adequate carbonation. Smooth as usual straight jacket with not a hint of booze to be had.
Overall: This is straight jacket with amplified vanilla, oak, and some rye notes. Nice little variant of straight jacket.
