Aged one year apiece in Wild Turkey and Ray's hand-picked Four Roses Bourbon barrels, this expression of Double Barrel V.S.O. Dark Mode Imperial Milk Stout dispenses with the cloying, flabby taste and texture of so many mouth-saddening modern lactose bombs, and replaces them with an intense, balancing oak and bourbon profile. Lightly bitter chocolate, graham, marshmallow, and vanilla greet the nose before crashing upon the midpalate. A rush of hydrophobic tannin and alcohol tidy things up after each sip, where one can sip again, or savour the long, lumberous finish.

On tap at Mackey's Hideout. Dark brown pour, no head, no lacing. Boozy aroma, wood, chocolate. Taste buds agree, not as sickly sweet as most milk stouts. Better than most milk stouts but not something I'd buy again.

I had this on draft 5/17/23 @ Revolution's Taproom.
Opaque brown/orange appearance.
Small tan head; no lace.
Oak, cream, Swiss chocolate & mild bourbon heat notes in the nose.
Thick, mildly sticky mouthfeel.
Cream, oak & Swiss chocolate flavors up front; bourbon heat notes on the finish.
Unspeakably smooth considering the A.B.V.; borderline exquisite.

Had on tap. Opaque brownish black body, tan collar. So take vso dark mode and make the barrel even bigger in all aspects and that is what this is. In the taste this mean more molasses, barrel, bourbon and chocolate interacting beautifully. The nose however is more boozy, so there I would give the edge to vso. Feel doesn't reflect this however, with enhanced barrel character not just the booze, chewy, warm, and complex
