Black color. Thin, beige head. Coffee, bourbon, and dark chocolate in the aroma. Tastes like cold brew coffee with bourbon. A treat for coffee lovers like myself.

The beer poured a dark brown hue that approached black. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid was capped by a small, bubbly crown that quickly transformed into a clingy, medium sized collar. After each sip, odd shaped patches of lacing cascaded down the sides of the glass.

The aroma was impressive and very mocha forward. Nice punchy, light roast coffee presence. Semisweet chocolate notes came through strong as well. Lots of vanilla and sweet cream too. A vanilla latte definitely came to mind. Sweet caramel malts were also noticeable. Nice rich bourbon barrel character too. Hint of booziness. Brown sugar notes appeared as the beer warmed. The coffee presence turned deeper and more robust as well.

The flavor profile was similar to the nose and nearly as impressive. Dark roast coffee notes led things off. The coffee seemed to be a mix of a latte and an espresso. Loads of semisweet chocolate too. Vanilla and lactose notes appeared in the center. Rich caramel and roasted malt notes came through on the back end and carried into the finish. Boozy bourbon notes were also noticeable here. Hint of bitter espresso. Nice lingering bitter-sweet coffee balance after the swallow.

The mouthfeel was the only aspect of the beer that I found disappointing. It was thinner bodied than I anticipated. A touch syrupy perhaps. The liquid contained a fine, mellow effervescence. After a few sips, I could feel a sticky film on my lips.

Stoopermassive Café Deth is an enjoyable beer for coffee lovers who might appreciate an old-school, medium bodied, roast-forward, coffee-infused imperial stout. Although I appreciate the stovepipe can format, I would suggest splitting this beer with a friend or two.

A massive 19.2oz. can into a Founders snifter.

0.5 finger rich mocha head with good retention. Stringy, spotty lace. Thick, oily legs. Beer is thick and pitch black. Nose is rich coffee. Dense, strong, and incredibly aromatic. Like a boozy espresso. Beer opens syrup, rich iced coffee and espresso. Boozy up front. Creamy. Lots of barrel. Molasses and chocolate. More coffee on the end and finish. Thick. Black strap molasses on the finish. Body is full with low carbonation. Slick and rich on the palate. Goes down boozy with a lingering aftertaste.

This is excellent. Super coffee forward with lots of barrel.

 

poured from a 19.2oz stovepipe into a rev deep wood tumbler. pours a shiny black with dark brown edges out of the can but settles in the glass a deep, shiny black with a thin and cracking mocha brown foam cap that quickly fades away. huge coffee on the nose with bourbon in second place and chocolate in third. as it warms up a little bit the coffee (or the mix of the coffee and base stout) give off a nuttier chocolate aroma. taste follows with perhaps a little more prominent oak and big bourbon flavors in the finish. full mouthfeel, with a smooth and creamy finish. this was awesome. exactly as advertised. huge coffee flavors.

 

 

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells ridiculously coffee forward, basically like I’m wafting in barrel aged cold brew.

This has a such a bright, vivid, roasty, and caramelly coffee note to it. It’s probably the most coffee I’ve ever tasted in a beer before. Revolution describes it as coffee made with beer – and that’s honestly on point. This is probably 90% indistinguishable from drinking barrel aged cold brew. It’s ridiculously chocolatey, oaky, and caramelly, with a dense coffee roastiness to it, and some char.

Really the main thing that separates this from being just straight up coffee is that it’s a bit thicker than your typical can of cold brew. This is extremely drinkable.

This is patently absurd and wonderfully delicious. I’m not sure I’ll ever drink a stronger celebration of coffee.

 

By my count this massive (ha!) 19.2 oz. can is my six different variants of Café Deth. I can take more. Bring it on, Revolution.

Black, with a surprisingly robust head. Must be mocha colored. Nose is full on dark roast, espresso, slightly bitter.

Stoopermassive Café Deth – I’d like to sample this side by side with the original, because it feels like a clone. Coffee blasts its way into everything circulating inside my body, likely altering my DNA. Hard dark roast & espresso echo the nose. The bourbon comes is at a lower register than the original, but no mistaking its presence. Cream, light bitterness. And creamy, as well, much less harsh than the original. OK, maybe it isn’t a clone. This can should be shared. I’m not sharing.

Revolution still hasn’t matched the absolutely sublime amazingness of the original, but considering it was borderline perfect, that’s a tall order. This? Borderline incredible.

Bottom of can stamped “14.9% ABV 04-04-2024”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 49.8 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 55.7 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same with some light penetration at the edges – ruby brown.
Head – Average (Maximum one cm, aggressive center pour), rufous, high density and fizzy, short retention, leaving a 0.1 cm crown constantly being reinforced by carbonation and a 1.5 cm center island.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Coffee and chocolate. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol (14.9 % ABV, as marked on the can). No bourbon.
Flavor – 4.5 – Follows the nose – distinctly coffee with chocolate. A hint or two of cherry and some VERY smooth bourbon. No yeast, no malt, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Eventual gastric warming to a mild glow.
Palate – 4 – Medium; somewhere between creamy and syrupy; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 4.5 The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Although every aspect of this brew is good, they synergize into a great drink, much more than just another BBA coffee stout. The ethanol is craftly hidden. A bit pricey, but well worth it!

Nice offering for those of us who can't conveniently hit their taproom. Potent as the name implies, a slow sipper that lasted me alllll night long.

a: an aggressive pour gives way to a midnight black beer with a one finger frothy medium dark khaki colored head.
s: Holy coffee, batman. some chocolate eventually breaks through the wall of coffee. And some oak as well.
t: Coffee, coffee and some more coffee. some chocolate comes through toward the finish. Oak and vanilla a bit at this point too
m: medium body. medium carbonation.
o: Not for the faint of heart, this is a coffee fiend's BA stout. Fortunately, I'm a card carrying coffee fiend. I'm giving it 4 bean rating. Well done, Rev.
