This Extra Old blend of Gravedigger Billy & Straight Jacket spent over five years in-barrel. The Scotch ale, 70% of the blend, aged for 1 year in a Woodford Smoked Malt whiskey barrel, while the V.S.O.J. Batch #1 dry component barleywine spent 2 years in a Buffalo Trace barrel. After blending, this single barrel rested four more years in a Heaven Hill Bourbon cask. Sweet with notes of toffee, cocoa, vanilla, & the softed expression of smoke, this blend is an extreme showcase of long term aging.

I had this on draft 10/3/24 @ Revolution's Taproom.
Black/brown appearance.
Small tan head; no lacing remained.
Wood, caramel, mild chocolate & faint smoke notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Caramel & wood flavors up front; mild chocolate & booze heat notes on the finish.
Sticky & a bit sweet; not quite the sum of it's parts, but still good.
