11/15/24 (Revolution Brewpub - Chicago, IL): $8 plus tax 20 ounce cask draft pour in a nonic glass.
Appearance: A few minutes tot settle, before yielding a crystal clear amber chestnut base and a very creamy Guinness like light tan white head. Cask so no carbonation. Looks great. 4.5
Aroma: Light to mild pine, citrus, toffee and malt. Enjoying. 4.0
Taste: Consistent with aroma. Citrus leads, pine, toffee follows. Getting mineral water vibes. Nice and refreshing. Getting a light menthol flavor as well as my weird palate sometimes gathers with this style. 4.25
Mouthfeel: Light and easy drinking, lighter than the ABV suggests. Smooth cask, creamy head adds to depth. Lightly bitter and malty, though hops balances out any excesses. Nice pine toffee malt finish. 4.5
Overall: This is a great cask offering. Everything comes together well. Almost nitro like with the creamy head. Nice flavor blend, bolder than many casks I encounter. Great offering, hope I see it again. 4.5
