Maibock Is Better Than Your Bock is a seasonal brew done in collaboration with Haymarket Brewing released on May 1 to commemorate the Haymarket Riot. This golden-hued lager gets its color and rich malt character from the use of 50% Munich malt. Extended cold maturation smooths out the full-bodied honey like maltiness. German Spalt hops provide a balanced bitterness that delicately lingers in the background.

On-tap at Haymarket. Served in a 5oz taster glass.

A - Looks like the Haymarket version, but with a bit less head volume. More wispy and less solid cap.

S - The Revolution version is a tad sweeter than the Haymarket version, although there's still a hefty dose of toasted grains. Less hops here, and less sharp and twangy.

T - The taste translates as well, with bread and biscuit to it, as well as some mild hop bitterness in the finish. This version has a weird fruity and estery note to it that doesn't entirely jibe well. Thankfully there is no alcohol here, but this still isn't all that great.

M - High carbonation that is verging on harsh. Medium body, sticky finish, and no alcohol warming. This one is a tad sticky in the finish and lingers on the palate.

D - While the Haymarket version was somewhat unexciting, this one is kind of off to boot. I'd skip this and just stick to Revolution's IPAs and stouts.

Had on tap at Revolution. Poured into a 20oz mug club mug with a nice solid gold color to it and a small head.

There is a nice maltiness along with aromas of citrus, wheat, and some oranges. There is decent depth to this and the aromas are well put together.

This has a fuller body to it with a very smooth feel and good notes of citrus, wheat, and malts.

This is a very nice maibock. It's smooth and balanced with a nice finish.
