From the can, it pours a clear copper color with visible carbonation. A ginormous foam head, too much, nearly spills over, I’m left waiting to drink.
Toasty and biscuity malt forward aroma, with notes of brown bread. Aromas of fruity and floral hops; overall, on par for the style.
The taste opens very clean and crisp, highlighting dry toasted malt flavors. Medium bodied and opening a bit on the thin side, a bit watery and less robust in malt body for what I’m used to in the style. Gentle hops bitterness, along with woodsy and earthy flavors that provide a decent balance. Moderately carbonated along with a crisp finish. As the drink warms up, the malt sweetness and complexity opens up somewhat, with notes of soft caramel and brown bread crust.
Not a bad Marzen style beer. A bit lacking in body at first, however, this improved as it went along.
