Draft at the brewpub, served in a 12 oz. snifter.
Dark brown with reddish highlights. Thin layer of creamy eggshell foam, some spotty lace left behind.
Aromas of tart cherries and some minor woody barrel character. Fairly clean and not all that funky. Description mentioned naturally occurring Lactobacillus, likely from the fruit skins.
Tart cherries, dry oak, slightly bitter tannins. Works well, it gives a good Flanders impression even if that's not what was intended. Pretty clean and well carbed, slightly too attenuated. Overall I enjoyed this and hope they try it again.
