First I very much look forward to every Hen House brew I have tasted. This is likely the only beer ever that I failed to finish. The flavor is repulsive and I poured the remainder of the can down the drain. I have been drinking interesting brew for more than 40 years, extremely disappointed .. I will try to find someone in my small town to pass the remaining cans.

gorgeous saison for summertime, its done with citrus zest, packs a little tartness, and is expertly made, even quite complex on the ferment despite being obviously driven by a french saison strain, which tend a little samey to me, but not here. its stunning in the glass, clearish yellow colored, light and backlit, with an inch of white foam rising well over the rim of my globe from the can, cool packaging too, really this looks perfect for what it is. huge lime and lemon notes in the nose, the citrus is obvious, zesty and fresh, with some light bitterness too from it, an essential oil sort of intensity, and the vinous and pear esters from the yeast playing in well. it appears wheat based, but i get a little grain depth too, perhaps a pinch of rye. the flavor is all of this, maybe the lime just a little in front of the lemon, but it all hits at once in the center of this, bold but thirst quenching too, bone dry, high carbonation, lively on the palate and a really fresh complexion overall. i love how robust the citrus is, how it sort of transforms this yeast into something unique, and how the beer seems both traditional and rustic on the one hand, but decidedly modern on the other. exceptional, i wish i had more. thanks to my buddy for sending this out, one of my favorite beers from our little beer exchange so far!
