A tasty fruity beer. Light and easy with sweetness. Clean crisp finish. Highly carbonated. No real hop presence.

Sunny Spot pours a hazy golden color, with a nice lacing head. Big fresh grapefruit juice aromas. Flavor has big lemon notes, then a big grapefruit juice finish, all on a creamy base. Good body and feel. Overall, a great grapefruit shandy beer.

Susquehanna Brewing Co. "Sunny Spot Grapefruit Shandy"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without freshness dating
$2 @ Weis Market, Conshohocken, PA
Look: Very hazy brass-orange body beneath a short head of bright white that holds fairly well but leaves only limited lacing.
Smell: Watery sweetened grapefruit juice with a mild malt component.
Taste: Again, watery grapefruit juice but with some pleasant grainy maltiness. A light acidity and moderate bitterness balances it, and it finishes surprisingly dry with some lingering fruitiness as some residual malt steadily fades away.
Feel: Medium-Light in body and gently crisp.
Overall: As far as shandies go it's quite unique, but they also make a lemon version so there's that. It's nicely balanced and delivers an interesting and refreshing alternative to a standard alcohol beer although it's very close at 4.7% ABV.

This isn't a pretty beer. There's no head, no matter how hard I try. The beer also looks like someone dumped something into it, clouding it up.
The nose and taste have a nice grapefruit nosevto them. There's no tartness, and actually a bit of sweetness, more in the taste. Not as light as I expected, a little think from the sweetness.
Refreshing enough but a little sweet and mostly lacking carbonation.

Really nice yellow orange murkiness, juicy appearance. Limited head. The fruit jumps out in the aroma. Nice grapefruit juice flavor. Really nailed it, great flavor without the downside bitter of grapefruit. Very juicy that lingers a bit. Tastes more juice than beer. Nice full mouthfeel. This is a really nice beer, would be my favorite lawnmower beer if it were local. Surprised me very much.

I really like the taste of the grapefruit in this it has a pleasant ruby red juiciness that does not seem artificial. The shandy is refreshing as the style was designed to be.
