Poured into a Lindemans stange. Pours a medium to dark blueberry juice purple, with a fine, quarter finger white head that leaves a persistent thin film. Aroma of lightly biscuit malt, blueberries and a little wort malt. Flavor is neutral malt, blueberry juice and a little apple juice; slightly tart muted blueberry juice finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I've been waiting to try something in a style I like from these guys and finally decided to try this blueberry ale as the most likely candidate. It has as good malt body that tastes more like a lager than an ale, but supports the fruit nicely. The blueberry is clear and fresh in the aroma, but is more washed out and tame in the taste. Not as tart as I anticipated with only a mild sour note in the finish. Blueberry lingers int the finish. A more subdued than the fruit lambics I had a few weeks ago, but a satisfying summer fruit ale.

The pour is deep blue color. The taste is grains, blueberries, & a touch of hops. Cheers! B

L: Pours a cranberry juice red
S: Faintly sour. Almost like you're about to drink a sour ale. This beer had me in the first half...
T: ...unfortunately it's not a sour ale. The taste that hits you is a strong, bready malty, sweet taste.
F: Feels like beer.
O: 2.75. I probably won't try this or any other flavored ales from SBC again. Just not my preference.

Pours a hazy purple with a thin head which disappears quickly. The aroma is is berries and malt. The taste is of sweet blueberries with enough tartness to keep it from being too sweet. The malt backbone is present enough to play a subtle background to the berries. The mouthfeel is light. Overall this is very refreshing.

Pours purple color with a foamy 1 finger head that was full of tiny bubbles, the head faded quickly and left minimal spotty lacing. Smells of fruit juice, blueberries, caramel, malt, sticks or earthy notes and then wood like a wicker basket. Thankfully the blueberry notes remain the most potent. It has nice blueberry flavors but something acidic and like fake juice concentrate mixed in with the brew. The malt can't tame the sweetness which changes with each sip, sometimes just right and other times over the top. I like the tartness which brings some raspberry accents into the blueberry dominance. Too sweet to have more than one, but a pretty decent beer overall.

I am SO excited to be drinking & reviewing/rating this beer! I am the one responsible for everything related to it on this site, ranging from the initial Add, the Notes, the approved pic & now, the first review. Wow.

I Pop!ped the cap & began a slow, gentle pour since I have had this bottle for a while. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up as a pinkish-Amber (SRM = N/A) with NE-quality clarity! Shades of Rhinegeist's Bubbles from the other night … I gave it a vigorous in-glass swirl that raised two fingers of fizzy, foamy, pinkish head that resembled fresh-spun cotton candy before it sank away to wisps. Nose smelled very much of blueberries & my mouth began to water. As a kid, blueberries were my favorite fruit, followed by strawberries & then red & black raspberries, in that order. I think that blueberries are now in third, followed by black raspberries with the others having moved up in position. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, kind of big for a Fruit Beer. The taste was like blueberry syrup on standard pancakes! As a kid, we used to vacation on Long Beach Island, NJ & there was a breakfast place that featured fruit syrups. I would always order plain pancakes with either sausages or scrapple (not much has changed for me, even in adulthood) & go to town, alternating blueberry syrup & strawberry syrup on successive visits. We ate there frequently & I remember my parents raving about their coffee. Hmm. Finish was semi-sweet, but unquestionably of blueberries, causing me to endlessly lick my lips. Mmm. It is indicative of my advancing age that I am so nostalgic, but this is one that I would readily drink again.
