I added this listing and it was difficult to track down the info for this one, but it was so good I thought it worth the effort. Found out it's a recipe from S.Ricour in France, Brewed by Susquehanna Brewing Company in USA and then shipped to Canada for distribution.
Purchased a can at local grocery store in Montreal, QC for $3.49 CAD. Served in small glass stein-mug.
Appearance: Opaque copper/ bloody urine color. Short head that dissipates quickly.
Aroma: Yeast, hay, barn, malt, coriander.
Flavor: A surprise! Quite complex and layered. It starts out with mild hop and ale-like then switches to sweetish-malty and ends very sweet with caramel finish. Saison character throughout. Lots of flavors popping in and out. But most noticeable is a caramel sweetness. Very subtle to no bitterness. Some coriander and orange come through after sitting in the open air for a bit. Website says 34 IBU but the sweetness overtakes any available bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Rich, medium-body
Overall: A gold medal in my books. A bit on the sweeter side but full flavor and surprisingly complex. It noticeably transforms in your mouth through a plethora of flavors. It matures a bit once open and married with the air. Though it's a strong ale, it's easy-drinking and there's no noticeable alcohol. Easy to get drunk from a few of these.
I definitely recommend this one.
