This is just a guess at the style intentions of Kirin for "Grand Ale". The website goes on and on about this beer, very detailed information, except for the specific style. It just says it's an ale. And a pretty damn good one when faced with the everyday selection (macro lager, lager, lager, happoshu) at any given store in Japan!
I will do a proper review of this beer at a later date. I really wanted to enter the beer and my picture of the bottle, but I've been putting it off for a while. For a brief review - Very nice looking honey ale with a solid head of foam. Complex smells and taste for a macro. Wow, a lot going on. Definitely good, but not great. Very malty, almost lager-like, but with an adequately floral hoppy finish. This beer is extremely drinkable. I have enjoyed all of the Kirin "Premium Chilled Beer" series, and this is probably the best offereing. Recommended!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
