Welcome back to my New Russo-Japanese-Vietnamese-Chinese CANned Beer Sunday, CANrades (Week 754) (С новым русским-日本人-Tiếng Việt-中文 Пиво воскресное, товарищи (неделя 754)!
This CAN, as well as the next one, were brought back for me by a local acquaintance who routinely travels for work. He is a fellow beer person as well as a trivia buff & knows my predilection for beer in a CAN. He happily brings a few back for me in his travels since they are CANpact & lightweight, allowing him to put them in his checked baggage with little fear of breakage. I added them as needed, took & resized the approved pics & then just kind of shunted them aside until today. 8=(
From the CAN: Loadsa Kanji! 8=O
Just as with the previous beer, it came with an old-school tab, more rectangular then rounded like the current iterations. As such, I was cautious on the Crack! as I did not want it to snap off as they used to in the mid-1980s. I beCAN my slow, gentle C-Line Glug, but once it became evident that clarity was not in the picture, I allowed it to free-flow. I got a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, soapy, bone-white head that quickly faded to nothingness. Color was a slightly cloudy Crystal Clear-White (SRM = N/A). 8=O What are the Japanese doing?!? This + 9.0%?!? Phew. Nose was like freshly-squeezed lemon juice! OMFG. Easy, peasy, Japanese-y, Lemon squeezy?!? Mouthfeel was thin & watery. The taste was like lemon juice or ReaLemon or a mixer that I CANnot dredge up at the moment. A 9% mixer?!? Whose party is this intended for? Bill Cosby's?!? This would knock my d**k inna dirt if I wasn't already temporarily (crosses fingers) impotent! Great Go**amn! It did not seem like it was necessarily meant to be CANsumed on its own, but how would it come off as a mixer?!? With Sake? 8=O Japanese Vodka? Oh, yes, it exists & if you have ever wondered what rocket fuel tastes like, there is your answer! Man, I was SOOO lucky one night in Okinawa's Whisper Alley NOT to have gotten rolled or picked up by the SPs that I still CANtinue to thank my lucky stars. Why would I gild the lily, so to speak, with a high-ABV beer, though? Maybe to achieve lift-off more quickly or cut the taste, but this did not have a happy ending in its sights! Finish was dry, but the alcohol, while not apparent, was building to a crescendo. Wow!
