Bought from the local Family Mart in Yomitan, poured from the can...

A - Big 'Ol white cap on top of a prolific amber beer.

S - Smells of corn and sweet malts, nothing else there.

F - Wow, did not expect this big of a flavor, I cannot put my finger on the sweetness it brings, like candy korn used during a secondary fermentation, a bit of mild hop bitterness. If I could throw some fruits at the flavor, i'd say peaches, and golden raisins fit the bill.

M - Big thick and chewy with a medium carbonation.

Overall this was a nice surprise from Kirin, definitely is an ideal mass produced Lager, however it brings an interesting sweetness and subtle hop profile which works out fine as long as it stays cold.

Coming in a 500ml can, produced on 05/2013, BB 01/2014, served chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: pours a strange dark golden hue with unusual red-ish hues, coming with perfect clarity, a thin white foamy head and constant flows of small fizz.
S: besides the toasted- & lager-malt-led aroma, there comes an acute edge of… Taiwanese brown prunes or marinated star fruits, with that unique salty-acidic-sweetness only imaginable (to me) from fermented or aged/marinated fruits, likely the estery bi-products from the fermentation process. I don’t know… it smells unlike anything I’ve tried.
T: so weird comes the foretaste… it’s sugary, not that sweet, but with a boiled candy-ish edge, as the main flavour is really adjunct rich with unbalanced sweetness, then a semi-grassy hint at Czech hops (which the beer label on the can specifies) kicks in, but soon all dissolve in a lightly tongue-coating-ly lubricating mouthfeel but dry-ish and lightly hop-bitter at the same time, with corn-grainy, starchy and unnamed(!!) sweetness lingering in the lightly warming alcoholic finish.
M&D: the mouthfeel is way less clean as a lager should be, not even to the level of a 6%abv. lager which sometimes can yield a bit of lubricating palate, the body remains full, while the carbonation comes slightly more than necessary for a thick and semi-sweet heavy lager like this. The beer label also mentions something like “distilled malt liquor” or “barley spirit” is used in the brew, I wonder what that is, but anyway this is a very weird and unbalanced brew. I won’t have it again.
