berliners are best when they are this light, closer to 3% abv than 4%, and super super pale. i like a more delicate take on the style, more tempered acidity and more grain character without any residuals, and this is a fine example of those elements at work. i taste the fresh wheat, maybe a little apple juice (perhaps used as a starter for the lacto?), and some nice tang without being harsh. my only real criticism of the flavor is the sour flavor itself. the acidity level is right on, but its not real clean, there is not quiet a cheesy weirdness to it, but it tastes rushed, maybe too hot, tannic or something, and its messy nature undoes some of the nice work done with the malt tidiness i think. hard to be critical though, this is real easy drinking and tasty beer, super carbonated and light, lemon and apple notes, not boring at all. clean the souring process up a little bit here and you have a top tier berliner. i think its awesome these guys have finally come to colorado. i cant imagine them not doing well, their beers are so awesome!

One of the more traditional berlinners out there, this one isn't spiked with culture to blur the lines between wild ale and berlinner, this comes off as the real deal. Bright yellow with plenty of wheat haze, 3/4" white head. Small lemon and wheat like tart aromas.

Super refreshing taste, the light wheat body, carbonation spot on, nice tartness, mild lemons. Crisp. Takes a slight knock on the overall score given the cost $6/500ml, this beer should be half the cost and in six packs, format 500ml is kinda high price per oz, keeping this from being something more than I would have more than once a summer.

Consumed September 6th, 2015. Poured into a chalice from a 500 ml bottle labeled "batch 434 20150525".

Pale straw colored beer: slightly hazy. A two-finger soft pillowy head forms immediately and provides a long-lasting head all the way to the bottom of the glass. Plentiful carbonation.

Aroma is soft cloves, apricots, peaches and nectarines, white grapes. Wow! Juicy!

Flavor is much the same as the nose with the addition of a nicely tart snap and an unexpected but welcome bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is soft, medium-bodied with excellent spritzy carbonation.

We have a winner!

Turns out to be a sour. Not bad, but the sour flavor was a surprise.

The beer is a pale yellow. Quite cloudy. The head is huge and white. Fairly hard to pour. The aroma is underripe apricots, lemons and a yogurty lacto character. Fairly gentle. Nice and fruity. Moderately tart taste. More of a refreshing tartness than a biting sourness. It’s easy to drink. It’s an excellent hot weather summer beer.

Batch 434. Bottled 5/25/15. 3.0% ABV per the label.

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with wheat, grain, lemon juice, earth, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour grain, lemon juice, lemon zest, and slight metallic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is refreshing and easy to drink with its super low ABV.

Serving type: bottle.

I'm a new fan of the mildly sour beer (my favorite so far is Bell's Oarsman Ale -yum). Tahoe Mountain's Berlinerweiss is my second favorite so far. A bit more sour than Oarsman but just as crisp and almost as easy drinking. At 3.5% ABV, have a few; it's a fabulous summer option.

High hopes for this beer after having severl other solid offerings from Tahoe Mountain. Boring. Color and appearance are stylistically perfect. Yellow clear hay, slight effervescence visible. Nose is light hay wheat, and lemon tartness. Taste is boring. Its like drinking a sour budweiser. Light, not carbonated enough. Slight green apple and hay watered down. Sad because my last berliner weisss was the bruerys hottenroth, who's depth blew me away. Ho hum
