Dark brown pour, lighter shade of brown head 1/3". Aroma of roast, not overly done, but not insubstantial either.
Taste was a little bit of Russian Imperial Stout meets American porter. There was roast and bitterness, but there was also a degree of dark fruit like bitter notes as if from an RIS.
Chewy, but expensive format makes this not a repeat. Some nuttiness in there.

Batch 432. Bottled 5/11/15.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, toasted nut, cocoa powder, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, roasted nut, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty, but the smell on this one is better to me.
Serving type: bottle.
