On tap at Old Mill in Austin, MN.
This is a good solid bock. Attractive (poured into a small Indeed tulip, which was interesting). Rich bock aroma and taste. A mix of a little sweeter than many and maybe a tad thinner as well, but all within appropriate style boundaries. Attractive, with a dense brown with red highlights and smallish almost tan head. A nice crispness and snap to the drink. Soft hopping blending in nicely with grass and herbal flavor.
enjoyable.

L-Burnt orange tinted brown...Clean looking with a light tan head...

S-Rich malt... rich melanoidins...guessing a good dose of Munich malt in this...

T-Excellent malt flavor which is spot on for the top beers in this style. Rich melanoidins....slightly toasty...sweet but not cloying....a little musty on the finish

F-Medium to full bodied...good depth and substance....clean initially then a but musty on the finish

O-Very, very impressive bock....among the best I've had....good to see this stays true to style rather than amped up with hops. Would love to drink this side by side in a blind taster with Schell Bock. This might be better and I love Schell Bock. Then again it might not be.

another nice beer from thee guys, i have really liked just about all of their stuff. this is more traditional and less experimental it seems than a lot of their more obviously weird beers they do, but its equally well done. darker in color, and smelling a little stronger, more caramelized, longer boil, probably closest to a traditional dopplebock, although thats entirely subjective in a beer like this. its almost brown in color, darker than a lot of these, with a huge soapy tan head on top with awesome retention. a nose of molasses and raisin, some dusty german malts, and a nice classic bready lager yeast that is pronounced enough to make it through all the grain. the flavor matches well, less sweet though than it smells, and not without a balancing bitter hop in the finish. caramel and toffee and black tea come to mind, the raisin for sure, and a velvety texture not common in the style. maybe a little short on carbonation, but i like how smooth this feels, almost has a cask feel to it on the palate. boldly flavored beer, quite german, nicely put together.
