Quarantine day forty one: I broke up an old glass table over a rock garden with a sledgehammer today. I have no idea what I was thinking. There’s glass everywhere. 12 oz. can.
The pour is mucky, murky red with enough fizz to cover the can top when the tab is popped. The smell is roughly as described: Christmas cookie, with only the ginger standing out. Oh, the ginger.
Strange Charm is more mixed drink than beer to this mouth. Gushing ginger, more booze than the ABV warrants, mixed spices, cinnamon. Zero oak or bourbon presence. Certainly not as advertised, though perhaps the entire ginger plant in my can is just covering it up. This is a beer that should be served as an after-dinner liqueur, in thimbles.
Not sure what reliable old Indeed was going for here, but the lack of barrel & general weirdness isn’t ideal. Mediocre, I guess.

On tap. Poured a clear, bugundy color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of ginger, honey and winter spices. Subtle orange taste with ginger and a malty sweetness.
