When we think of classic beer styles Porter is one of the first that come to mind. The historical significance of the Porter style is captured in our interpretation of this classic quaffable beer. Our Porter is crafted to distinctly showcase the characteristics of dark specialty malts and the personality of a Porter without the use of Roasted Barley. Our Porter showcases a nice balance of sweetness and hearty dark malt flavours with the subtle smoothness of Torrefied Wheat and Midnight Wheat Malt. No chocolate or coffee was harmed in the making of this dark and delicious brew.

Bottle from Beer Academy - Recipe 2 Batch 1
Dark brown, nearly black in colour, one finger of tan head with a bit of lace. Smell is of roasted malt, chocolate, smokey liquorice, slight coffee and a bit of a bittersweetness. Taste is chocolatey and well roasted, coffee as well as a pretty hefty hop bitterness, liquorice, finishes clean with a roasty aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, a touch light in body and mouthfeel. Quite a nice porter, would have this again gladly.

On tap at the Beer Academy.
Dark brown, almost black in colour. Light brown head, with some decent lacing and mild retention. Nose has quite a bit of roast, some dark chocolate and yeast notes. Taste has more roast, dark chocolate, light nuttiness, toasty grains and perhaps a shred of dark fruit. A fairly straight forward porter, but easy to consume. Hits all the things I dig in a porter, perhaps Beer Academy's best offering at this point.

On tap at the Beer Academy.Best one of the night, on the bitter side. Bitter chocolate works for me, 30 IBU well crafted. Licorice aroma. Cream mouthfeel. Decent porter that can stand up in Canada as a good representation.Suitable carbonation, middling mouthfeel.
