Pretty black in terms of colour, with reddish mahogany highlights. Light tan head with good lace and retention. Nose of bitter citrus, resin, some pine and herbal hopping. Light roast character. Taste has more bitter citrus, resin, pine chocolate, roast and some of the midnight wheat used in the malt bill is evident. Medium body, and heavier medium bitterness. A nice cascadian dark that doesn't roll with the big guys and is a bit of a different take on the style, but is pleasant in it's own right.

Dark brown and near black in colour, one finger of off white/tan coloured head, good amount of lace. Smell is roasty with lots of lemony hop, citrus and pine, orange, tangerine, some chocolate and as it warmed a bit of butter. Taste is roasty with lemony and grassy hops up front, coffee and chocolate, buttered dark bread, finishes with pine, fairly bitter throughout. Medium carbonation, medium body, a bit of oil from the hops. This was ok but nothing to write home about, a little too one dimensional but still drinkable.

Emphasis on the hop taste, roast is pretty minor, though still not bitter enough for me. Decent orange citrus flavour, a little much sweet though despit 60 ibu. A little watery but tasty. Not the style though still good drinkability.Lacey and dark bodied.
