SGBC's second anniversary saison release, brewed (this time) with lemon peel and pepper.
A - Pours a hazy golden orange colour, finger of head with no real retention and no lacing.
S - Nice yeast esthers, barnyard funk, citrus rind, and toasted grains.
T - Traditional saison flavours with fruity yeast, toasted wheat, sour citrus rind, hints of bubble gum and lemon drops. Nice tart lemon flavours linger alongside a very faint peppery spice and bready malts.
M - Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, but smooth going down and surprisingly dry on the finish.
O - I was a huge fan of their original saison, and they've amped that up a bit with a higher ABV and a more complex flavour profile. I might actually consider this to be my favourite offering by them to date. Solid example of the style and the lemon and pepper notes are very complementary. Happy Anniversary SGBC, lets hope next years release is another winner like this one!
