Sour brettanomyces, red grapes, oak chips. A non-standard combination for sure.
How does it turn out? Quite well!
The color is that of berried toffee, a thick brown/red, quite opaque but not very dark. Gentle carbonation and almost no froth.
On the nose berries, much like a sour kriek but with more strawberry. A mineral character adding complexity.
Tastes sweet, sour, vinegar, berries, calcium... Redcurrant and lake sediment. Not long lasting. I can't seem to find the oak.
Overall a refreshing, pleasant fruit beverage. Moderately complex.
