Naked Brewing Co. "Night Witch"
on tap at the brewery on 14 April 2018
Notes: Black saison listed at 7.0% abv. It's a dark but clear mahogany brown beneath a surprisingly light colored head that's almost white. Average head retention and lacing. The aroma is spicy, earthy, woody, and either musty or sweaty or both - odd. It's not off-putting though, and actually quite interesting. The flavor follows and it's clearly a yeast driven beer with minimal dark malts in play - perhaps they've just used some de-bittered black and small amounts of something else to give it color but little flavor. It's enjoyable regardless, and nicely balanced, finishing with a little less excitement than the nose suggests but roughly the same attributes. Light-medium in body and crisp. Unusual and certainly worth trying.
