12 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 11/17/17, had 5/2/18.

Pours near black and opaque, with a two inch foamy head with great retention and a fair amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, some coffee, a hint of citrus. The taste pretty much follows along- roasted malt, chocolate, some vanilla, light coffee, faint orange peel when warm. There’s a light bitterness throughout. Smooth, creamy, a good medium body, well carbonated.

A really good example of the style, solid from top to bottom. A good amount of complexity from a pretty basic blend. The orange peel is mostly a decoration, though. Well worth grabbing a few cans.

I was stoked to spot this one at my local store on sale at $8.49 per 6 pack of cans.

Poured into a pint glass, the beer is a very dark brown with dark garnet highlights. It has a medium brown head with good lace.

The aroma is of dark roasted malts, some dark fruit, vanilla and coco.

The taste is nicely bitter from roasted malts. There is vanilla a bit of expresso and more dark fruit. The orange peel is very subtle and only emerges late. The flavors are well integrated.

The mouth is decent with a bit of creaminess. I would love to try this on cask!

This is another solid beer from a brewer that flies undeservedly under the radar.

While I most respect how Baderbrau sticks to innovating the German tradition, they did a good job venturing out to this Baltic Porter. The chocolatey malt and the touch of peppermint are great reminders to the senses of the season. I Had this at a reception with no dessert. So I drank my dessert. A nice viscous Feel and the sweet seemed controlled mostly be well-roasted malts. Tasty. I hope Baderbrau offers this a 3rd year in a row.

Pours dark brown with a reddish mahogany highlight in the glass, with arcs of drippy lacing around the rim.
Chocolatey vanilla aroma, not especially sweet, mildly roasty.
Taste is similar, dry bakers chocolate and roasty mild coffee, a soft vanilla marshmallow note. Malty and dry.
Light bodied and flavorful, could use a little more body, but overall it's pretty good stuff.
Not overly sweet or spiced, the orange peel isn't really noticeable here either.

Pours dark brown with a two finger tan head. Head dissipates steadily leaving tan sticky lacing on the glass. A residual layer of thin tan foam is noted.

Smell has notes of roasted malts, a touch of vanilla, and some cocoa and chocolate notes.

Taste is light and lacks the robustness Ive come to expect from Baltic porters. There are some roasted malt notes, chocolate, cocoa, a touch of vanilla and hint of orange towards the back end. Finishes with some woody notes and some earthy hops before a lingering citrus flavor hangs on the tongue. Its actually pretty well done and the orange/vanilla is subtle enough to add depth to the flavor but doesn't overpower the porter itself.

Feel is pretty thin, easy drinking. Medium carbonation.

Overall a decent baltic porter - and the addition of the vanilla and orange peel is well done although it does stray from the traditional style. This is marketed as a holiday season beer, and I think it fits that quite well. This is the first Baderbrau beer I'd pick up again.

Taste: complex, tangy, malty with orange peels, fruit cake like notes. Chocolate malt, licorice, citrus nose. Black/brown, opaque, tall tan foamy head with broken lattice of lace. Medium/full body. X-mas Porter

I bought a can of this off the single shelf at Binnys. It poured an opaque black with tan head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent has hint of vanilla. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. Some vanilla hints. The can said orange peel as well...but not getting much of that. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a good porter and worth a try.

First beer from Baderbrau! This baltic porter left me wanting more though. Not a terrible beer, but no good either. Smelled and looked pretty standard for the style, nothing too exciting. The taste had a funky orange kick at the end that I felt muted the darker flavors. Not a do over
