I tried this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a six sample flight whilst in Spokane for work. It poured an opaque dark amber with tan head that left some lace. The beer was good and had typical oatmeal stout smell and taste. Overall it is a good beer.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger milk chocolate head that slowly dissipates to a thin film with nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, Postum and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate creaminess, bakers chocolate, drip coffee; the faintest hint of caramel in the finish with some light bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A quite nice oatmeal stout with solid chocolate and coffee, both meshing well with the coffee and dry chocolate character. The mouth feel is on the lower end of density for an oatmeal stout, but the oat character is clear. Very nice flavor density for the ABV. Enjoyable. I'd be happy to have this again.

I received a can from @woemad in an NBS BIF. No apparent canning date. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours virtually ink black with a frothy, mocha-colored head that dissipated quickly leaving minimal lacing. You can really smell oats, along with roasted malt, brown sugar, and cocoa. It's a roasty brew and the taste opens with notes of burnt coffee and bakers chocolate but the bitterness is tempered by oat sweetness. It finishes with a touch of acidity and bitterness. The mouth feel is lite to moderate with a low level of carbonation and with a temperate 5.6% ABV it drinks very easily. Overall, Goatmeal Stout is a solid example of the style; it's flavorful and easy to drink.

Unknown age out of a can into a pint glass. Very strong 2 finger head, carmel dark brown color is very noticeable. Color is solid opaque black, good head retention and soap factor. Nose is muted cacao and chocolate, maybe a hint of oat. The taste is strongly oat and roasted malt forward, finishing with rounded burnt chocolate that lingers, really good full mouthfeel. A tad sweet, as expected.
This is a great oatmeal stout, and will fix my craving for a long while!

this is way underrated here, a seriously fantastic example of the style, as good a dark beer as i have had in the spokane area to date, really impressive! black and rich looking under a tall frothy tan head with complete retention and thick ring lacing. high roast to the grain in nose and flavor, some bitterness from it, but enough oats and attendant protein and creaminess for this to not even seem a little bit intense, its all so smooth and mellow, must be somewhat higher of an oat ratio in the mash here than a lot of these have. subtle dry baking chocolate, earthiness, and even licorice in the background, but a notable lack of sweeter crystal malt in the middle of this, so it drinks drier and cleaner than is common. the faintest smoke note, dark chocolate, and even a woodiness from somewhere, this is quite hearty at the same time that its supremely drinkable and satisfying on each sip. light raisin to me too, but this isnt fruity, and light coffee too, but this isnt all that bitter. some milf yeast character rounds it out, i like this in stouts, not common enough from american brewers anymore. just a really balanced and creamy feeling stout, something i want to drink every day, especially when the weather is cold like this. very high quality here, objectively speaking its one of their best beers i have had so far at iron goat! a top notch example of the style, well ahead of the curve.

Big deep flavours. Punches above 5.6%. Smooth, doesn’t overdo the roast… all good.

Wonderful beer. Nice roasted flavor. Good coffee notes. "Pours chocolate brown." Nice tan head. "Delicate notes of espresso and cocoa" smooth with a dry sweet finish.

Nice very dark appearance with tan head that disipates quickly. Mild nutty aroma. Taste is nutty with a coffee hint very smooth without any bitterness.

Purchased the 22 oz in August 2016, cellared until end of April 2017 (really not intentional, I just didn't get to drinking it sooner). Poured into stout glasses at 50 degrees.
Dark black with brown/tan head--and LOTS of it. This was super-carbonated. Really too much, as it didn't settle down for quite a while.
The aroma was really off-putting. Dare I say like goat hair (seriously though). It was musty and not in a good way. Shared this with a friend and his take was "horse barn."
Fortunately, we both agreed that the taste was much better and that this was a beer that we would order if it were on tap at a bar. In fact, it tasted nothing like it smelled. Pronounced dark roast. A bit thinner than I expected (like a black lager, really), but that was fine. Absolutely drinkable and enjoyable overall.
