This is the cherry variant of Foxy Lady, 2018 vintage. Poured from 500mL bottle into a tulip. It’s no secret that I love cherry beers, so here goes!
Appearance: rich amber hue with a nearly haze-free body. Head is two fingers of frothy ivory foam with perhaps a hint of reddish cast to it. A very attractive beer indeed.
Smell: tart with a hint of malt and a noticeable oakiness. The cherry is a little sweet and comes through well, especially on the second whiff.
Taste: the sourness is bright and up-front without being overpowering. There’s a good malt presence along with the cherry, which manifests more toward the end. This is an interesting, dynamic beer, and I really enjoy it.
Mouthfeel: light body with a big carbonation and satisfying, if evanescent, creaminess. A refreshing complement to the tartness.
Overall: I enjoy this beer a great deal. It’s got a great cherry flavor but isn’t so up-front as to seem artificial. Really a good beer.
