This beer is sometimes known as "Bitter" and sometimes known as "ESB". As far as I can tell, they are the same beer. This review is based on a sampling of this beer on cask. Pours out an amber color with a large head. The beer took several minutes to settle. The aroma is mainly fresh, fruity hops, although there is also some caramel hoppiness. The flavor is balanced between caramel and biscuit maltiness and the fresh hops. There is some fruit flavor, but it's not overly strong. Tastes alive, unlike many of Whitney's cask ales. The mouthfeel is creamy, with a gentle carbonation. Great drinkability. I found this beer to be quite impressive. J.T. Whitney's can be hit or miss, but this one is very good.
