Full, pillowy head on this one, hazy golden body with very active column of carbonation in the center of the glass. Aroma of honey and sweet malt, some sourdough. Taste is tangy, leaves the tongue tingling. Slippery mouth feel, sweet finish.

its cool to have these guys in the colorado market now, they are clearly up to some pretty interesting stuff. this one is open fermented, and frankly, i almost wish it wasnt, as with that technique i expected this beer to be a whole lot more interesting than it is. its a nice saison, dont get me wrong, but its not way different, the first of their beers ive had to be a little generic, although the more it warms up the more i am liking it. only a little fog to the pale yellow beer. short lived white head on it doent make it five minutes. there is also almost no sediment on the bottom of the bottle, so perhaps its filtered in some way. it smells belgiany, esters all over the place, and a little sharp like the 3711 french saison can be sometimes, especially when done warm. i know they pitched yeast into this and its not a wild ale, but i expected some funk for an open fermented beer, and its not there, its actually just the opposite, super clean. the flavor is a little more interesting, with some light peppery spice to it, green peppercorn kind of thing, vegetal at the same time, white wine notes, and then a really dry finish with soft carbonation. its cool because after the swallow, it sort of flushes back in, mouthwatering without sourness or acidity, i like that sensation and dont often feel it. in the end i like it more and more as i work on it, but it leaves a little something to be desired i think in terms of complexity and yeast character.

Had from a 500mL brown glass bottle purchased at a Walgreens on Holgate in SE Portland. Bottled on date of either 05/13/15 or 05/15/15. Hard to read.
Pours a light hazy golden color with a very weak white head that dissipates almost immediately. It sports ample carbonation, but almost no head whatsoever.
Pretty aromas of fresh-cut lemon, ripe peach, farmhouse funk, light untoasted grain, grains of paradise, clove, grass, herbs, and unripe pineapple.
Zippy and vibrant on the palate with a lithe citrusy acidity, orange peel, subtle spiciness, and generous malty backbone. Some pleasant spicy funkiness on the finish.

It's like if a hefe and saison scissored each other while Kayne watched and poured syrup and hop cones all over the bed.
