Named after the Sumerian Goddess of Wine, can also be referred to as the Wine Drinker’s Beer. This blond ale, like Bacchus, incorporates pinot noir pomace graciously provided by Seven Mountains Wine Cellars. Gestin was fermented with ale and pinot noir wine yeast strains then aged for 7 months in a French Oak wine barrel.
750 ml This beer can only be consumed on premise and is not available for take-out.

Poured from Bottle into a chalice glass

Appearance – Pours a pink rose like color with a tiny bit of white head floating atop the brew. The head fades very fast after pouring leaving just a scant of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a fruity smell with lots of fruit aromas of a grapey wininess and fruity notes of berries and a lighter peach aroma. Along with these smells are some aromas of an oaky and lightly boozy aroma.

Taste – The taste is very rose wine like overall. It begins with a white and red grape taste mixed with just some hints of a more wheatly like flavor. As the flavor advances the wheatiness fades in place of some of the lighter fruit flavors of cherry and apple taking its place. A light oakiness comes to the tongue along with some light tannin flavor leaving a very rose wine flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side for a brew of 8.8 % abv with a carbonation level that is on the average to slightly higher side. The higher carbonation and lighter body were good for giving a somewhat champagne like character to the brew which created a nice base for the very wine like characteristics.

Overall – Sorta wine/champagne like heavy with just a hint of beer mixed within. I would actually just prefer a wine or champagne or a beer. This style is not really one I ever get along with that well though so I must say in comparison to the other more wine-like/beer hybrids this one is pretty good.
