Pours a hazy amber color with a modest head.

Smells of citrusy hops, with a sweet and sometimes sour undertone.

Taste is quite subtle for the style and ABV, but satisfying nontheless. Hides alcohol well. Slight bitterness but mostly citrusy malts. Light mouthfeel. Quite drinkable for its style and strength but also quite forgettable.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Despite the plentiful headroom, not much head. The bottle is probably several months old as I don't recall the exact purchase date but it's almost certainly early 2015.

Orange/amber in color, which matches the general aroma and flavor - sweet, citrusy. Hops do not predominate because it's about a year out from packaging, so this is not likely to be representative.

Leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Slightly bitter but not over the top as I'd expect from a Double IPA. Some caramel, although not overly present - maybe sort of an apricot flavor? Does make my tongue pucker up in the middle a bit, and tingly on the tip but don't really not anything on the sides. Alcohol present in the aftertaste, a mild bit of burn but not overpowering.

Other beers in this ABV range come across to me as medicinal to some extent, but this one doesn't. A better overall balance thanks to the citrus-y quality of the hops. As a dark beer enthusiast this is a bit outside my general comfort level but I would pick some up again - I think it would be a great companion to a sweet BBQ rack of ribs, suitable for tailgating at Happy Valley.

Pours a clear light Amber color. Aroma is malty and raisiny. Flavor is a little bitter up front with a well balanced smooth finish. Overall a solid IPA but I prefer a stronger hop presence.
