As per the brewery, "Just in time for summer, this Cork and Cage release is a tart and refreshing ale sure to please. Locally sourced apple cider, Montmorency cherries, and honey were blended with our wheat ale and fermented with a German yeast strain. Apfel Kirsch has a spicy nose with a pleasantly tart flavor up front followed by a hint of cherry then finishing with the sweetness of honey."
Had at Otto's Put and Brewery. Poured from a bomber into a snifter.
L: Pours a cloudy copper color. Thick off-white head and reasonable lacing.
S: Fruits. Apples and cherries.
T/F: Kind of like the description. Fruits and apples with some cherry tartness. I didn't pick up the honey as much, and it wasn't an overly sweet brew. A little complexity from the wheat beer yeasts and dry at the finish. A bit fizzy on the mouthfeel... perhaps a bit overcarbonated.
O: Sort of like the bastard love child between a German wheat beer and a hard cider. It was okay, but I wouldn't go for it again.
