Part of Otto's 'Cork & Cage' series. Poured from a bomber into a goblet.
As per the brewery description: "What do you get when you blend a saison with hops and gin aromatics? Genever, of course! Juniper, coriander, licorice root, cardamom, with saison yeast. This wonderfully complex ale has earthy, peppery and spicy notes along with a hint of sweetness from the addition of Belgian Candi syrup. Have one and you'll be a 'Believer in Genever!' Original Plato: 19.6, ABV 10.4%"
L: Pours a semi-opaque medium mahogany color. Reddish hues as I hold it up to the light.
S: Gin? Definitely gin. Lots of botanicals... juniper stands out... licorice and spice. Definite honey sweetness.
T/F: The taste is complex. Somewhat sweet throughout... the gin botanicals are very noticeable with Juniper berry, licorice, and coriander. Cardamum (although I might not have picked it out without the description) and mint. Cooling... and again very herbal. Medium in body. Good carbonation.
O: An interesting beer... very gin/mint oriented giving it a medicinal feel. Different... and very glad I tried it. Probably not one I'd re-visit without some help from a friend.
