DATE: September 29, 2025... OCCASION: the high school football season begins with the home team win--and a beer from the trip to Penn State weeks ago... GLASSWARE: Corsendonk tulip... pours a golden amber body that swirls with bubbles... its head is a snow-white thickness, staunch and steady... a rife tang of horse blanket, herb, tobacco, pepper, and citric hops make this a funky, spunky aroma... some bread malts mingle as well... a pleasant, active sip that buzzes at the throat, a slight burn that invigorates... medium-bodied, mellow at the teeth and tongue, it doesn't betray its 6.5% ABV... a spicy, herbal profile that benefits from its pepper and tobacco elements... banana, orange, and lemon meld with rye malts to frame a pleasant, drinkable beer with some attitude...

Growler. Pours a hazy yellow with a nice white head. Nose is musty/funky. Flavor is barnyard continuing with wet hay/musty flavor. Honeyed sweetness in the background provided nice balance with those farmhouse sourish qualities. A little spice and citrus as well but never sensed the juniper berries. Really liked this alot and it improved as it warmed. Thanks to mjc410 for the growler.

On draught at the brewery.
golden / orange with an off white head presented in a tall goblet.
aromas of tart citrus, sweet melon, spice and some funk
flavor are a great blend of same - fruit, funk, spice, twang and high carbonation
more body and mouthfeel than most of the style but I liked that part.
highly enjoyable local, went great with the shrimp.

This is a serving of Otto's Saison during BrewFest 2006.
Appearance: The ale has a deeper yellow color that is not as light as I would like. There is a decent head here.
Smell: The ale has a fruity aroma that is fairly unique for the style (the website tells me that it is juniper).
Taste: The ale has a firm spicy flavor that does not allow much room for malt or hop. The spices include a bit of honey sweetness and the astringency of the juniper.
Mouthfeel: The ale has a nice fruity aftertaste that lingers for a bit.
Drinkability: The ale is fairly drinkable, with a firm spicy body that provides a bit of unusual kicks.
