DATE: December 14, 2024... OCCASION: the last scrimmages in the books--all resounding wins--means celebrating with a beer I have cellared for almost a year...thanks, brother Jer! GLASSWARE: Gulden Draak chalice... pours a fizzing, dark brown, opaque body sporting a smear of off-white head that holds its own... its upward streaming bubbles roil continuously, displaying a healthy, fresh appearance... thick plum, apple, candied fruits, sweet cake, and some doughy elements suggesting an after-dinner drink... mellow, easy-drinking draw from a smooth, mildly effervescent, creamy body... in fact, its creamy, sweet body is a pleasant sipping experience... plum, apple, pear, and sweet pie crust make for a confident, tasty ale that may or may not require a cage...its age may have softened its edges--which I appreciate, given the possibility of its fruity sharpness at an earlier iteration... Otto's, another solid offering... cannot wait for this year's creations!
