Pour a light brown and sits a still black.
Nose is all dark chocolate, bitter dark roast coffee , and charred roasted malt.
Mouthfeel is medium with very light carbonation.
This is one of my favorite new found Russian Imperial Stouts in California. Highly recommend if you are into bold, true to style no nonsense stouts and not the sweet crap being churned out by overhyped breweries.

Purchased from Trader Joe's in East Pasadena, CA. Bravery's basic RIS (i.e., not liquor-barrel aged) is an excellent contribution to the style. Dark pour, medium head. A nice, roasty, cocoa and coffee aroma. The taste follows the aroma: coffee most pronounced, then cocoa and roasted grains. Slightly bitter taste, light carbonation, pleasant though not lingering aftertaste. Definitely recommend this one.

On tap at Bravery Brewing in Lancaster, CA.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, char, and black licorice aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, char, and cookie dough flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of char and licorice qualities.

Serving type: on tap.
