Tasted at the brewery taproom in July 2022. Served in a snifter. I bought a bottle to take home, which was a wax-sealed pint bottle labeled "Bravura Collection 2019".
L - Mahogany color with a slight haze. Nice off-white head that lasts as a few swirls and a ring around the glass.
S - Strong roast grain and coffee nose. Cacao is there, but at a lower level. Barrel aging is not apparent in nose.
T - Lots of coffee and chocolate. Malt reminds me of sweet graham cracker; no roasted notes. Moderate whiskey kick in finish.
F - Medium body that dries out in finish. Moderate to strong carbonation. High hops bitterness reinforced by alcohol burn.
O - This is a very big, complex beer. I feel the base barleywine gets a bit lost behind the coffee. The bourbon barrel character gives a very strong, hot whiskey finish that covers the base beer even more.
