Guardsman Stout pours a black color with a small, tan, long-lasting head and lacing. The aroma has notes of smoke and dry chocolate powder. The flavor is dry, with hints of bitter chocolate and smoke. Good feel. Overall, a pretty nice, plain old stout.

Pours a black color with a big rocky light brown head which slowly dissipates.
The aroma is of wet bark, pumpernickel and caramel. Not a big roast aroma.
The taste is of a light roast, lactose, milk chocolate, dark toasted bread and caramel.
Full bodied with semi-soft carbonation. Lightly sweet on the palate. Not much bitterness.
Reminds me more of a beefy brown ale or porter. Good flavors but not that roasty. Drinks well.

Growler share.
We both poured into mugs.
The appearance was a fairly thick dark brown color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a fairly decent pace. Some light messy lace ran here and there.
The aroma played with a huge roasted coffee beans and a nice smooth clean caramel/toffee maltiness a bit bigger than expected for an American stout. I didn't mind for me, though. Some milk chocolate at the very end.
The flavor was moderately roasty with a sturdy sweetness. Some bitterness came in stealthily. Light roasty to malty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Mainly a roasty sort of finish.
Overall, it's a decent American stout. Though the caramel/toffee maltiness isn't distracting to me, it was a bit different.

One of the more drinkable stouts I've tried this summer. Not super heavy but nice malt and caramel on the back end. Highly recommended.

This pours a very dark brown and has a moderately thick head. Roasty aromas toast and a bit of caramel. Malty roasted flavors with a nice creamy mouthfeel.
