From a 6-pack picked up at Safeway in North Spokane, WA
12oz can poured into a Sisu IPA-style glass
P brilliant slightly hazy gold w/ a small white cap; fairly quick recession; a good amount of active carb
N med to med-bold grapefruit, passionfruit, pineapple, and juicy orange; nice
T follows nose, but to a lesser extent; citrus, and light passionfruit pineapple combo, w/ crackery malt that supports; med peel bitterness in the finish; pleasant
Mf light-med to med bodied, w/ med-high carb; prickly, yet airy and lightly creamy
O a solid west coast IPA

Side by side comparison.
“Two breweries. Two beers. One philosophy. It’s the way.”
Poured into an Oregon Brewers Guild can shaped glass (as they’re the home team).
Looks: identical, as expected a clear west coast IPA.
On the nose I get a lightly fruity, floral note. Tropical punch-like characteristics come across, followed by the sip. Low bitterness.

Look: Medium orange on the pour with a lofty head that slowly settles to a pillow and leaves a nice ring of lacing behind
Aroma: White and pink grapefruit, Cara cara orange, honeydew melon, light pine, strawberries, raspberries, peach, and bready malt
Taste: Pine and grapefruit join forces and strike first, hitting hard up front before settling in and developing. Orange, peach, and melon work in next and these all mingle with the pine/grapefruit as both strawberries and raspberries peek in throughout. Closes with pine, orange, grapefruit, and a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly dry on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. The other half of this collaboration, this one being pFriem’s version and it is a tasty one indeed. More grapefruit, berries, and peach than G-Town’s but that was a couple of days ago so need to do a side-by-side to really compare and contrast these two. Either way, it’s worth checking out as it is well-made and tasty. Recommended

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of pale malt, dank and tropical fruit hops, catty dankness, orange, mixed tropical and stone fruit. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and dank hops, grapefruit, orange, light catty dankness, mild pine and mixed tropical fruit. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Like the Georgetown version, an enjoyable IPA with a hop profile solidly in the West Coast style. Interesting in both that the aroma leaned to mixed fruit, while the flavor was mostly pine and citrus. This version had more complex fruit notes and a lighter presence of pine and citrus, but still in the West Coast mode. Less bitterness in this one too. I liked the hop fruit complexity of this one better, but the fine bitterness of the Georgetown was more to my taste. This one had a larger, more persistent head, but it may have been due to the difference in glasses. As expected from these two breweries, both were excellent IPAs.

Canned 10/22. Already reviewed its alter ego, The Tao of Manny. Expect this one to be close as well.
Pour is a clean light amber. A single finger of creamy head produces definitive aromas of tropical fruit with a small amount of grassiness. Quite dry, very smooth blending of the hop flavors, generous carbonation. Picking up support from the malt in the long, smooth and persistent finish. An outstanding example of a WCIPA. Our next task is to put the two beers side by side.

Pours a nice golden color with a foamy white head that turns to some lacing. The aroma is citrus & lemon with a hint of bitterness. Taste is similar with a heavy lemon flavor. BOD 10-21-2025
