I’ve only had 2 BFM beers before and both have been incredibly unique. This one sounds interesting as well. A half frozen Eisbock aged in rum and “Mc Vin” (whatever the fuck that is) barrels? How often do you see that? Let’s pop it open and find out what it’s all about
Pours a murky medium brown with just a few brown bubbles around the edge which obviously leaves no lacing. A few particles in suspension
The nose is super sour which I dig, but there’s an odd boozy note that drags it down a bit. I’m picking up on aromas of sour cherry, dark bread, molasses, toasted oak, raisin, blanco tequila, tobacco, light caramel, and sweet rum
The booze fades a bit in taste but this is still super out there. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black cherry, molasses, plum skin, dark bread, brown sugar, burnt caramel, smooth oak, and sweet rum. The swallow brings notes of red wine vinegar, molasses, apple skin, brown sugar, burnt caramel, sweet rum, smooth oak, sour cherry, tobacco, and dark bread
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick and hot beer. Finishes bone dry and its one of the only beers I can think of that drinks quite a bit above its abv
This one is absolutely perplexing. Boozy and sharp but quite complex. This brewery continues to amaze me

This one pours a basically still dark-ish brown, with no head or lacing.
This smells like balsamic, very sour plums, chocolate, and red wine.
This is just a bit too sour and a bit too vinegary for my personal tastes. I want some more malt complexity, but the barrel character and the overall acidity is just too high, and buries the possibly interesting malt character that could have been there in this eisbock base.
This is light bodied, and kind of thin, and not super drinkable.
I usually really like BFM in most situations, but this one just didn’t click for me.

Appearance: Pours cola colored with a very thin head that fades to a collar with some tiny dots lingering
Smell: There is a Rum and Coke aspect to the aroma, more like Rum and Chinotto, actually, with the sour cherry and dark fruit tones, some burnt brown sugar adds a sweet element
Taste: Sweet date and fig forward with the sour cherry and Chinotto emerging; the Rum arrives, with the swallow to create a two dimensional finish - a layer of Rum-soaked sweet dark fruit and an aggressive sour cherry aspect
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body but hardly any carbonation
Overall: My guess is that the age has impacted the carbonation here but it is a very interesting beer; I wish I could find some fresher BFM beers but these days it is all about the hazies and the pastry stouts

Truly a bizarre beer. semi-deep brown, average head. Huge aromas of rum, cherries and dark fruits, almost nose singeing. Taste is bold with a ton of sourness, tart cherries, rum, figs, raisins and such. Mouthfeel is slightly stinging and this one is a great sipper for a cold winters night. It does have a somewhat slightly weird medicinal taste but to me does not play too much of a factor. Finish is sweet and sour, almost candylike with a good bit of rum, some malt and has the lambic feel.

Yet another offering from BFM.
Label says, and I quote:
"Bizarre blend of frozen half ice bock, aged in Rum barrel and Mc Vin barrel 100% blended in the Swiss Mountains."
Bizarre indeed!
Semi-vigorous pour yields a 1/2 inch off-white head that reduces to a ring shortly thereafter. Nose of sourness and some sort of cherry/raspberry candy. Sour Patch Kids? Very intriguing on the nose and the palate. Slight balsamic vinegar taste comes through. Damn, this is good! Nice feel and will definitely have and share again!

Pours deep, dark brown where light only passes along the edge of the glass. Frothy head that leaves some slippery blanketing lace.
Initially, I get a strong soured cherry nose. Without prior knowledge I would guess a Kriek from the nose.
The flavor is sour from start to finish with a bit of berry sweetness (from the Eisbock) deep in the background. Despite the dark color, I get no deeply roasted malts at all. I like the balance between the sweet and the sour. The carbonation is fine (as in small bubbles) and the body is rich but not thick if you can picture what that might be.
This is one of those rare, truly special, beers that one should seek out. It's not only unusual but it's extraordinary.
