Bottle pour- ruddy reddish brown with short off white head leaving minimal lacing. Nose is funky and sour with notes of wine and oak. Taste follows, reminds me of some of the Flanders reds I drank in Belgium only a lot more sour. Barrel wood lingers on a sourish finish.

375ml bottle. Label wrapped over cap. Label says brewed in 2019 and bottled in 2020. Label says "Very Limited Edition".
Deep amber colored body, with a hint of brown. Pour results in a partial cap and rising surface bubbles. Leaves scattered vertical strings of lacing.
Aroma is red wine oak barrel and yeasty funk.
Taste is sour, with sweet red wine, oak barrel, and underlying yeast funk. Aftertaste is the oak and red wine dryness.
Medium mouth feel. Each sip has a hint of fizziness, but the overall expression is quite quiet in the mouth. Appropriate quiet carbonation. The sourness is similar to drinking a dry but sweet red wine.
It is difficult to find any direct reference online to this offering. There seem to be a lot of variations off of the Saint Bon-Chien basic brew. There is a Sot Terne version from 2019, but this is labeled as Sot Terne 2. In any case, this is an example of a sour beer (made with aging in the barrel) with a depth of brewing and blending behind it. Lots on the lips to savor.
