I tried this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with thin tan ring head that did not leave any lace. The scent had chocolate and peanut butter notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to sip with chocolate and peanut butter presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Left a lot to be desired. I really wanted to like this beer, maybe because I'm a fan of JAFB, maybe because I'm a Buckeye at heart. I love Imperial Stouts too - among my favorite beer, but this one just didn't do it for me. Looked and smelled great, but just wasn't as smooth as an Imperial Stout should be. Overall, good beer, not great.

Brewed in collaboration with Arizona Wilderness, on draft at the brewery.
Soft black with a tan head, Buckeye has a smooth, creamy feel with roasted peanut flavors and aromas, and a little chocolate as well, although not a lot.
Not overdone on the sweetness, nor on the original inspiration of the buckeye confection in general. This could pass as a well done imperial stout if you're not aware of the buckeye influence.

32 ounce growler
Served in a JAFB snifter
This beer fails to let any light pierce through it. Three inches of mocha colored head rests atop leaving plenty of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Peanut butter and coffee are the obvious culprits. It smells delicious.
The taste was more coffee dominated when I had this on tap. After sitting in a growler for nine days the peanut butter seems to shine through a little more. The chocolate is very subtle.
Rich, luscious, creamy, etc.
This is like an imperial Willoughby Peanut Butter Cup Coffee. This is great, and I hope it is not just a one and done beer. I may drive the 45 minutes to get another growler tomorrow.

This one is right up there with Nut Smasher from Willoughby. Truly delicious coffee, chocolate, and peanut butter Imperial Stout
