Really nice place in Wooster in a cool older building. Wide selection of beer styles, with several very well done ipas to choose from. Service was friendly. No food, but you are welcome to carry in. Worthwhile stop.

The brewery is located in an older building that served, rumor has it, as a NAPA auto parts store. There is an industrial feel with think log cut picnic tables to sit and enjoy beer and possibly a stranger or two. The quality of the beer was excellent.....I tried ten different beers and they were all quite good. The bar keeps were friendly and attentive. The selection was IPA heavy, but they did have at least 14 beers to choose from. I can't wait to get back there.

Always an imptessive variety of styles. Excellent effort in creating impressive IPAs, yet offerings include well honed brews that include quad Belgians and hefenwisens.

On a nice mellow block in a cozy town, JAFB has a spacious interior with huge, well crafted wooden picnic tables and a long bar with multiple screens displaying sporting events that don't drown out the nicely selected music--blues and rock and so on.
Bring your own food, or order from local vendors and they will deliver if you want. But the main draw is the beer, and there is a large selection of really full bodied, well balanced, flavorful suds here.

Very chill spot and let us bring the dog on the patio. Beer is amazing and worth the drive. Sometimes they have a food truck as well!

I am a big fan of JAFB! The taproom is a really cool space and we always have fantastic service from the bartenders working. No food served, but you can bring your own or ask for a vast menu collection to order in… Most of the places around will deliver right to the brewery, so the lack of food is non-issue.
JAFB always has a killer taplist, usually quite diverse and not just a bunch of IPA’s which I appreciate.
Overall quality is very good among all the beer… I have not had any “duds” here, all very solid. I highly recommend checking this place out. Wish it wasn’t nearly an hour away from me, I would go far more often.

I was recently there for my second visit and really enjoyed the whole experience. Really like the feel of the place, nice exposed brick retro look with modern niceties like several nice larger tv's to watch sports. Met Paul the owner and brewmaster. He seems like a nice guy and is genuinely devoted to brewing great beers and serving them in an equally nice tasting room.

Always enjoy visiting this nice local watering hole. Simple with nice artworks placed here and there. Simple yet elegant bar with the emphasis on the beer they serve. All solid and excellent examples of the styles. From pales to Belgians, they proudly serve excellent ales and a wide variety to choose from. Friendly and attentive staff. Wish they had food, but one out of two ain't too shabby. Worth the drive to historic down town Wooster who should be proud to have such a treasure hidden away there.
Cheers

Very nice, large tap room with plenty of seating. Beer selection is limited to just their offerings, but they have quite a large variety of beers on tap.

This place is about as simple as it gets: A bar, wooden picnic tables, production facility in the back and no kitchen. Couple TV's for sports, but the focus is on the beer and it's fantastic. Highly recommend.

No food, mitigated by your ability to bring in your own. Helpful staff who know their products, outstanding beers. There were over a dozen beers on tap, which I felt is a good number for a small brewery to have on tap at one time. Diverse selection, too. I just wish there were some chairs with backs on them.
Overall highly recommended.

Stop #444 on my world brewery tour.
Get your ass to Wooster.
Other than Russian River, this is the only tap room with a dozen plus taps that are all exceptional. Three Roggenbier's prior to this which had me doubting the style. Here, it was exceptional.
I did two flights and the server gave me small plastic pours of the remaining beers.
Wish I could find a reason to pass through Wooster more often.

I made a second voyage to JAFB on Thursday. I had heard of their Buckeye Imperial Stout that is a coffee, chocolate, peanut butter stout. I, of course, had to try it. The taproom is a fairly large open room with high ceilings. Heavy wood plank, picnic style tables fill the area. I bellied up to the bar. There were sixteen house beers on tap. Several sounded interesting, but I ordered the beer that brought me there. The Buckeye Imperial stout was very good. Coffee and peanut butter smell with a mostly coffee taste.
The bartender was a friendly young gentleman that answered my few questions. I sampled a few other beer while I was there. They have some excellent IPA's for which they have received awards as well as their stout that got a silver medal at GABF in 2014. Aside from the Buckeye stout the standouts for me were the Cubano Brown ale and the imperial red ale the was super hoppy.
They do not offer food, but allow food to be delivered or brought in. I really like the place and have been kicking myself in the rear end for not going more often. It is only 45 minutes from my home. I definitely recommend trying their offerings if in the area. The New Stunt series of IPA's are always fun to try. It is a great, underappreciated place. The only drawback was the guy I unfortunately picked a conversation with. I got tired of hearing how great a guy he was and how much money he had. I will be back hopefully on a regular basis.

Great atmosphere. It's in an old firehouse, and the tables are hand built. Beer selection is good, and the quality of beer is some of the best you will find in Ohio. Definitely check it out if you are in the area. Price of beer is what you'd expect at any brewery.

Paul Fryman brews quality beer. He knows beer and sticks to traditions. The location is great, but could use a bit more parking. 14 taps full of a wide variety of beers.
I really like the session IPA - his IPAs, in general, are really good. The Coffee Porter is not overpowering and the cream ale surprised me significantly.
It would be great if they could figure out how to add a set of food choices, but they really are focused on maintaining the quality of the beer. Folks are always welcome to bring their own food, so this is a great choice for a fun evening.
We need to keep our eyes on this place. Paul is a quality brewer and JAFB - Wooster Brewery will be high on the list for Ohio / Midwest breweries.

This place is perfect for a town like Wooster. It's located in a old brick building right downtown. Has a great vibe and great beer. I've tried most of their offerings and they are all solid. It's been around for a year now and it seems to be doing well. No food, but you can bring your own in or order from one of the take out places near by.

I have visited this brewery twice now. The first time i visited was about a year ago right after they opened up. I have been living in Charlotte NC for over 6 years now and was pleased to see that my home town now has a brewery. On my first visit there were 6 to 7 beers to choose from. I thought at the time that they were solid offerings from a fledgling brewery. Now one year later I am back in town and stopped by for a few beers. I was happy to find that on top of the first beers being brewed he now has a seasonal list that is about 7 to 8 beers. I choose to try a sampler and picked out a good array of seasonal and year round offerings ( amber ale, IPA, coffee porter, american barley wine). I was impressed with each offering, all were solid brews and of the ones that I had tried a year ago that have improved more than I had expected. I suggest looking out for this brewery in the future because if he continues to improve as he has I feel this will be a big player in the future.
As for the tasting room it is set up in an almost rustic manner. The bar has about 14 to 16 stools that are not crowded. throughout the rest of the tasting room is picnic benches for sitting around and shooting the sh*t with friends. decoration seems to be at a minimum now but the uniqueness of the building is nice (I believe it is one of the original buildings in town). Overall i really dig this place and everyone was supper nice and willing to answer all of my questions. No food yet but you are welcome to bring in outside food. No bottles yet but they do offer growler fills. Cheers

This establishment opened about 2 years ago on the east side of downtown Wooster, Ohio, just south of the College of Wooster. It is a microbrewery with a large tasting room. The brewer has a good bit of experience and cares about quality beer. He has 14 or 15 on tap, including a cream ale, pale ale, red ale, foreign export stout, ESB, and some really good IPA's. There seem to be 7 regular beers and about 7 seasonals. The beer is very good. You can bring in your own food and enjoy it with the fine beer. Beer ratings are good and I have never had a bad beer there after numerous visits.
