This is by far the darkest wild ale I've come across. It barely lets in any light at the edges, even. Fine light brown head goes away quickly, leaving not much lacing.
Nice funky sweet scent. Honey and blossoms, moderate intensity.
That mellowness on the nose belies how tart this thing is. Sadly, I can't get past that. I mean, it's an order of magnitude beyond what I've encountered before, which puts it well beyond the bounds of okay. Too much citrus acidity. Too much brett funk. Too much bitter barley. Even when I take it down to little sips, it's overpowering. It's palatable, but not pleasant.
Take what I said about the taste and bring it over to the feel. I can't even detect alcohol.
This one is shocking because Ale Apothecary puts out so much well-crafted, great stuff. I know they kinda hang out there on a limb, but the bough broke here. I could finish off the bottle, but I'm going to try to use it for marinade.
