500mL bottle (no dates or codes) into a tulip. Pours a clear honey golden color with a minimal head.
Aroma is bright, funky and tart—pear and green apples, damp hay, fresh-squeezed lemon.
Taste is likewise tart and crisp, not quite puckeringly sour. Crabapples, oak. Delicious.
Mouthfeel is light, dances on the palate. Finishes bone dry. Refreshing. Can’t stop sipping this.
Overall a tasty, well-constructed, straightforward/no-frills wild ale. Hard to imagine not enjoying this.

Bottle Date: none
Palate Contaminants: other beer
Dark amber color and some fine, off-white head. Minimal lacing. Fairly opaque, with background no longer visible after about an inch of liquid.
The first smells I get are lemon and powdered sugar (like Smarties). The funk ties into the sweetness really nicely, and I get a bit of champagne vinegar, although not in a derogatory way. Perfume and pickles toward the back end.
This is going to sound even weirder, but it's like a savory dill pickle juice, and anything that could make it unpleasant (acidity, pungency, etc.) maxes out at a very pleasant level. It's not the usual that I wish I had food to pair with a sour, but I'd love to have this brew with a sausage platter. And after all that, the savory element is increasingly present. This thing basically pulls off the impossible. It's such a unicorn that I wonder if I tracked down another bottle whether it would hit my palate similarly.
Medium-fine carbonation is well integrated. Honey sweetness goes along with light funk in the aftertaste. Alcohol well buried. Medium-heavy weight.
