Whaaaat? We took a batch our our delicate and wild stout (Be Still) and aged it first in fresh wine barrels from Domaine Drouhin then in 2nd use Laphroaig barrels and gently conditioned it with raw cacao juice for an experience that moves us from Still to Silly. The smoke character from the barrel comes from malted barley dried over a peat fire in Scotland. Sláinte!

Palate Contaminants: other beer
Muddy appearance, with a reddish-brown color. Virtually no head.
The smell is both spice and herb. Plenty of fresh cilantro, and maybe a bit of bay and oregano. Cloves and cinnamon. It's noticeably sweet, and I can best describe that as being like those Red Hots candies. A bit of lemon iced tea is present, too.
The alchemy doesn't succeed on this one. I can describe it as woody with tobacco overtones, standalone sweetness, and concentrated lemon. The astringency really hurts it. I think I can finish the bottle, but this one is a miss.
The advertised whisky does start to show up in the aftertaste, but it's just too buried behind other things (i.e., astringency) for that to make much of a difference. Minimal coarse carbonation. Even the alcohol can't compete with the astringency.
