Palate Contaminants: other beer
Nice dark red color, raspberry juice-like. Opaque. Good amount of fine white head. Not a lot of lacing, and it actually fizzes away fairly quickly.
The smell is candy corn with pureed berries. The sweetness plays nicely with a light funkiness. Raspberry and blueberry scents. Not as strong as it could be, but still pleasant.
The taste is more toward the blueberry than the raspberry. It might be best described as a bitter berry puree, and the sweetness comes on late. Cranberries start to show as it warms. Mild-moderate astringency. What little funk in the nose is basically gone. Unique.
The carbonation is moderately prickly. Alcohol is definitely detectable. Aftertaste is that berry puree, maybe even a bit of honey.

Poured from 375mL corked & caged bottle into my BeerAdvocate teku. Bottled 8/6/21.
Appearance: rich and lovely amber-red hue with a clear body and a finger of frothy pink head. The head doesn't really last super long, but that color, oh, that color!
Smell: this is spontaneously fermented before being aged on cherries, and you can definitely smell that hint of funk. There's a sourness as well, although nothing crazy for a fruit beer like this. I love cherries, so of course I love it.
Taste: whoo! Quite a bit more sour than the aroma led me to believe. There's a smooth cherry flavor that is somewhat dried out, although there's enough pucker to this beer to make anything seem dry. I like it, but the tartness-to-sweetness level is a bit unbalanced for me.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: as I said, I like this beer, but its sourness is quite a thing. It's probably going to take me a while to finish this bottle.
