Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of off white foamy head. Mild stringy lacing after the head dissipates. The aroma starts off with bacon bits, somewhat smoky and then sweet maple syrup, and then brings in a sly roastiness as it warms. The flavor yields to the sweet side with the maple syrup coming forth a bit further than the bacon and the smoke. The aftertaste is quick and has some remnants of the bacon with the maple syrup. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fine, right on par. Overall, I like the idea but it seems to lose the bacon and maple syrup aromas as it warms.
