True to its farmhouse heritage, our Saison Ambree is brewed with toasted barley, rye, and wheat malts, then fermented & conditioned in wine & bourbon barrels with a careful blend of traditional saison yeasts & locally-isolated brettanomyces. Finished with family-farmed Willamette Valley hops. Bottle conditioned.

750ml corked bottle, brewed May 2016 - so 3 years on the store shelf at this point. Very hazy deep reddish orange, lots of bubbles, big fluffy head. Smells like a saison with notes of the bourbon and wine barrel used in the fermentation and conditioning. Tastes like a saison but with some character of a Belgian tripel, and some hops which have aged but still OK. Some notes from the bourbon and wine barrel have been picked up, but not so much of oak (which is fine with me). Feel is good. Overall, it was reasonably good - was probably better fresher and somewhat overpriced at this age.
