my beloved wife got this for me - honestly dont recall when. Decided to indulge for the first day of NFL 2016

pours dark like cola - and at least one finger of thick khaki head - no lacin g to speak of.

S not overpowering at all - slight aroma of sweet cherry with just a hint of malt background.

T my first thought - this does NOT taste like beer. My beautiful daughter says she tastes chocolate, but I cant really get that. just a strange mailty cherry-ness.

M super thick and creame

D sip and enjoy - EZ on the belly!

Look is deep espresso with light tan head that disappears leaving nothing, no lacing.

Smell is tough - and its becoming clear that I'm having trouble smelling properly in this Whole Foods - but there's definitely sweet notes of dark fruit. Cherry is present even if I can't hit anything else specifically.

Taste is sweet with cherry and a mix of other dark fruits, hints of rum, but nothing overwhelming. Very well balanced.

Feel is medium-full with slightly bubbly, chewy elements. Nice long finish doesn't have a lot of bitterness, but there's a little but in there trying to balance the sweetness.

Overall, this is much better than expected. Most special releases from Lakewood disappear quickly while this has rested on the shelves for months (probably because the last colab with Rahr was not well received, at least on BA) and maybe the time did it some good, because this is a very high quality brew, cheers!
